Affluence Abounds . . .

Dallas has always been associated with wealth, and nothing personifies that image like Highland Park and University Park; commonly known as The Park Cities. In years past, the neighborhood was home to much of Dallas’s ‘Old Money’ families. However, as Dallas changed from a center of Oil, Cotton, and Banking to a much more diverse economy; so did The Park Cities. The demographic became younger and very, very different.1920’s, 30’s & 40’s vintage Cottages were suddenly being bulldozed and replaced by Large New Homes with Modern Conveniences. Recently, an older house in a prime location sold for over $5,000,000 and was torn down within days.

Although located entirely within the Dallas City Limits, both Highland Park and University Park have their own governments and public safety departments. One of the big draws for families with children is the highly acclaimed Highland Park Independent School District which is shared by both cities, and always ranks at the top of any rating system. Highland Park is also home to Southern Methodist University, and the George W. Bush Presidential Library. Tree lined streets, quality lifestyles, great schools,  churches of most denominations, and proximity to Shopping Venues, Fine Restaurants, and Work Centers make The Park Cities a picture perfect location.

Speaking of shopping, Highland Park Village (the oldest shopping center in America) is quickly becoming Dallas’ version of Rodeo Drive with designer clothes straight from the fashion capitals. Inwood Village along Lovers Lane and Preston Center offer their unique brand, and of course no shopping experience would be complete without a trip to Northpark with its flagship Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Macy’s stores along with countless other national and local merchants.

Intown offers a wide variety of Homes both For Sale and For Rent in The Park Cities, and across a wide spectrum of style, size, and price. If you are looking for a Quality Home in a Quality Neighborhood, then Highland Park or University Park might be an excellent choice.
